My name is Dione De Pooter. I am an Afro-Caribbean Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Certified Addictions Professiomal, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and a MFT and MHC Qualified Supervisor. I am also a Doctoral Student in Sex Therapy (Clinical Sexology). I have more than 15 years of experience providing psychotherapy to couples, survivors of trauma, and individuals, including those struggling with addictions. I have an additional 6 years of experience working with families within the legal system. My experience enables me to offer effective outpatient, individualized, mental health counseling, including EMDR. I provide a safe, non-judgmental environment to adults, adolescents, families, and couples.
I provide a personable, down-to-earth, non-judgmental environment, allowing clients to feel comfortable during sessions. My main focus is to help individuals/couples/families heal, re-energize, and tap into their inner strengths. I achieve this by providing a neutral safe space, while listening to your concerns, and personalizing your treatment plan to meet your needs. You are the expert in your own life, I'm only here to be the objective party to assist and guide you along your journey. Many of my clients tell me during our first conversation, that I seem "real", feel like someone they know and can easily talk to. I want your experience to feel fluid and natural. So, let's have a conversation!
I promise to be there with you every step of your journey. My goal is to help you grow from your struggles, heal from your pain, let go of the past, focus on the present, and move forward to where you want to be in your life. I promise to never judge, be direct, and to truly listen objectively to you because your therapist after all, is for you and about you.
My name is Isabelle Cantave. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Florida. I was born and raised in Haiti, and I am fluent in both English and Creole. I received my Masters Degree in Family Therapy at Nova Southeastern University in 2016. I have been practicing for 7 years and have gained skills and experience working within the Corrections system, residential programs, psychiatric facilities and juvenile justice system. I have experience working with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety and have a passion for women’s issues.
I believe the relationship between therapist and client is key to the success of therapy. I strive to create an atmosphere of trust, empathy, and understanding. You will never be judged, and I will always work to meet you where you are. Together, we will build a safe space for exploration and healing.
My goal is to provide a safe and non-judgmental space to my clients in which they may openly and comfortably express themselves. I believe in empowering clients by creating a compassionate, collaborative and direct therapeutic environment. In our work together, we will explore not only the cognitive and emotional aspects of your experience but also how your social environment and physical health may be influencing your mental well-being.
Depression and anxiety are more common than you may realize but can make it almost, if not completely impossible to function. These uncomfortable emotions can show up unannounced and unwanted. Anxiety can be anything from a mild flutter in your belly or chest, to an intense fear that leaves you feeling trapped inside your own mind. Depression isn't only sadness. It can cause you to feel tired and alone. Through counseling, we are able to help you recover motivation, perspective, and the joy that you once had in your life.
Many individuals experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic events from past or present. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger following traumatic events. Our bodies hold on to the memories and we may be triggered by things that we aren't even aware of. We experience guilt and shame and feel stuck and out of control. Ms. De Pooter is trained in EMDR, CPT and has experience with various forms of trauma. You don't have to carry it alone. You can overcome your symptoms with some help and guidance through the process healing.
Relationship counseling can be beneficial to couples who are looking to strengthen their emotional connection, in all stages of their relationship. Our therapists provide a supportive place to discuss issues and solutions, and strategies to improve communication and problem-solving. Pre-marital counseling is also available for a smoother transition.
Anger can ruin our lives and that of others. It can lead to multiple stress-related illnesses, loss of friendships, loss of employment, or even legal complications. We can help you uncover your anger triggers and recognize warning signs of anger, to prevent escalation to an aggressive outburst.
Sex and sexuality issues can interfere with not only our relationships but also with our daily lives. Many couples struggle with the quantity or quality of their sex lives. This may be a difficult conversation to have with a partner. Some individuals struggle with defining their sexuality, exploring their kinks, or acknowledging their desires. Whatever it is, let’s talk about it. Ms. De Pooter is a Doctoral Student in Clinical Sexology. Let's talk about sex!
